Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Har Ghar Jal schemes

During September 2026, Delhi Voice News Agency (DVNA NEWS) portal owner and journalist Rita alias Richa Sharma visited Assam’s Kokrajhar district and the Gossaigaon subdivision to observe the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Har Ghar Jal schemes.

During the field visit, DVNA NEWS interacted with and interviewed local households in Bhalukjohra village, where residents were observed receiving a sufficient supply of water for their household needs. The visit focused on understanding the ground-level impact of the drinking-water infrastructure being implemented through the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) under JJM.

According to the field observations provided for this report, the Gossaigaon subdivision has been actively implementing JJM-related schemes during the 2023–2026 period, with the objective of extending reliable tap-water access to rural households.

The interaction with Bhalukjohra residents provides a ground-level perspective on how the programme is functioning in the village. Household access to a sufficient water supply is particularly significant in rural areas, where dependable drinking-water infrastructure can reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to collect water.

DVNA NEWS's field-based observation and interviews highlight the importance of examining government water-supply programmes not only through official records but also through the experiences of local beneficiaries. The Bhalukjohra visit therefore documents the reported availability of household water supply under the ongoing JJM implementation in Kokrajhar district.
