Election Commission of India Announces 2026 Assembly Election Dates for Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar urges voters—especially first-time voters—to participate as poll schedule for five states and by-elections is declared.

The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the 2026 Assembly Elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Polling in Assam and Kerala will take place on 9 April, while Tamil Nadu will vote on 23 April. West Bengal elections will be held in two phases on 23 April and 29 April, and Puducherry will also vote on 9 April. The results for all states will be declared on 4 May 2026. The poll body has also enforced the Model Code of Conduct and appealed to citizens, especially first-time voters, to actively exercise their democratic voting rights.

Election commission of  India (ECI)  announced assembly election 2026  poll dates of total  824 Assembly seats of Kerala , Tamilnadu  ,  Assam ,Bengal   and Union Territory (UT)  states   in   single –phage and double  phage  signifying or imposing  a set of rules  into force   that is  Modal Code of Conduct  and its Rules  and  assurance on SIR  for 2026 Assembly  election  by the poll body  in these poll bound states   for ensuring  free , fare and transparent ,violent free  assembly elections   after visiting  and  observing  these  poll bound states , chief election commissioner (CEC)  Gyanesh  Kumar  said recently at a   press conference held in New Delhi  recently    appealing to the all voters  to exercise  casting  their  democratic  voting   right ,  also  specially   to  first time voters   saying  them  step into one of the most important roles of  their  life. .The ECI announced  polls  in Assam (total seats126) and   Kerala will be held together  on 9th April in first phage  and UT states of Puddpucherry  will go for polls  also   on 9  April  ,  Tamilnadu  with all 234 seats will go for polls in a single phage on april 23th and  west Bengal  with all  294  in  two   phases  accordingly its 152 seats  on April 23th  while second phase   remaining 142 seats on April 29.  The ECI also informed the results of all the Assembly election will be announced on May 4.  The  CEC  also declared  Assembly   by polls  in Gujrat and  Maharastra will be held  on April  23, while  Goa , Karnataka  and Tripura  will be held on 9th  April  and  all Assembly  by polls  result  will be  also  declared on 4th May 2026.  .
