Kerala, Tamilnadu, Assam, West Bengal, Pandisherry along with other few states are likely to cover under Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Election Commission of India (ECI) decided to implement SIR in 10 to 15 states of India including Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Pandicherry after 2 days long conference between ECI and Chief Election Officers of States held recently in New Delhi.

Opposition ruled states — Meanwhile Tamilnadu, Kerala, West Bengal opposing SIR.

In Kerala, the assembly has passed a unanimous resolution opposing SIR.

Tamilnadu CM M.K. Stalin and West Bengal CM Mamta Banerji criticize NDA Govt., imagining SIR as an opportunity for NDA Govt. in the state to win in the election.

Meanwhile Assam Govt. and other NDA ruled Govts in States of India have been welcoming during its process as SIR is a correct voter list verification ensuring accurate fraud-free election through comprehensive voter validation.

As its effort is to ensure that no eligible voters are left out while no ineligible person is included during special intensive revision of voter list.

AASU (All Assam Student Union) welcomes SIR following the possible rules of Assam Accord.

In Bihar, Election Commission of India has implemented SIR already during Bihar Election, recently after completing all possible processes, claims and objections received and verification of eligibility documents discussing with concerning Govt. and non-Govt. authority and organizations, political parties after checking with the ERO and AERO by 25th Sept 2025.
