सम्राट चौधरी ने अपने राजनीतिक करियर की शुरुआत 1990 में Rashtriya Janata Dal से की थी और वर्ष 2000 में खगड़िया जिले के परबत्ता क्षेत्र से विधायक चुने गए, उस समय बिहार की मुख्यमंत्री Rabri Devi थीं।

समय के साथ उन्होंने कई राजनीतिक दलों में काम किया। वर्ष 2014 में वे Janata Dal (United) से जुड़े और 2017 में Jitan Ram Manjhi के कार्यकाल में मंत्री बने। बाद में भारतीय जनता पार्टी में शामिल होने के बाद उनका राजनीतिक करियर लगातार ऊंचाइयों पर पहुंचता गया और उन्होंने पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा।
