UPPL BTC MPs RAISED VOICED SOON AFTER JOINING IN PARLIAMENT ASKING RAILWAY STOPPAGES AND RAILWAY PROJECTS IN KOKRAJAR Lok Sabha MP Jayanta Basumatary (UPPL) soon after elected and Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary represented from UPPL , a political party led by ex. BTC CEM Pramod Boro , soon after nominated to parliament from Bodoland Territory Council (BTC) in Assam , under its then Chief Executive Member ( CEM ) Promod Boro who was CEM since 2020-2025 , both these MPs have actively raised voiced on issues in parliament asking infrastructure projects at kokrajar railway station and railway stoppages for key trains including Vande Bharat Sleeper Train which was inaugurated this year 2026 January keeping a stoppage in Kokrajar for one minute after the meeting last year 2025 in July , with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw by the both MPs regarding the stoppages of more long distance trains at Kokrajar to improve connectivity and passenger convenience in the BTR . Both MPs also emphasized while meeting with railway minister , on early establishment of the proposed Wagon Factory including a coach factory in Bodoland to boost regional employment. The railway minister Ashwini Vaisnav informed them regarding sanction a Wagon Periodic Overhauling Workshop at a cost of Rs. 2 56. As Kokrajar is a capital of Bodoland , stakeholders argued that the lack of adequate , high speed train stoppages cauges significant inconvenience to traders, students patients and tourists including daily general passengers , Assam Rail Passengers Association (ARPA) and Kokrajar Merchants Association in kokrajar have actively protesting demand for better connectivity, to increase railway stoppages including Saraighat Express, Capital Express , and other South and Mumbai bound long distance trains , Kamakhya –Howrah Vande Barat Sleeper Express which was flagged off recently in January this year 2026. Based on public demands , the Indian Railway under BJP -NDA ruling government have initiated role at the initiative of BTC government in Assam including BTC Lok Sabha MPs Jayanta Basumatary and Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwara Narjary
