The Land and Revenue Department of Karbi Anglong is dedicated to managing land resources and ensuring equitable distribution of land rights to its residents. With a commitment to transparency, efficiency, and service to the community, the department plays a crucial role in the region's development.
The total geographical boundary area of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong spans more than 11,000 square kilometers, as per the 2022–23 survey. Under the jurisdiction of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), a total of 561,576 land pattas have been issued across four revenue circles.
These include:
141,546 land pattas in the Diphu Revenue Circle
124,403 land pattas in the Silonijan Revenue Circle
141,576 land pattas in the Phuloni Revenue Circle
154,051 land pattas in the Donka Revenue Circle
This comprehensive effort in land patta distribution underscores the department's commitment to supporting the rights and development of citizens in both districts.
IMPROVED LAND REVENUE ADMINISTRATION

LAND ALLOTMENTS, MODERNIZATION EFFORTS, AND ENCROACHMENT RESOLUTIONS The government has recently initiated land allotments for significant projects in Karbi Anglong, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable development and modernization. These initiatives aim to enhance infrastructure and educational facilities while addressing illegal encroachments to ensure lawful land use. MAJOR LAND ALLOTMENTS 1. 1000 MW Solar Project A monumental step towards renewable energy. The government has allotted 10,000 bighas of land at Lahorijan Revenue Village for the establishment of a 1000 MW solar power project. This project is expected to significantly boost the region’s energy capacity, contributing to both environmental sustainability and economic growth. 2. Sainik School Recognizing the importance of educational infrastructure, 500 bighas of land have been allocated at Ingham Aphule near Langlok for the construction of a Sainik School. This institution will provide quality education and military training to students, preparing them for future careers in the armed forces while fostering discipline and leadership qualities. 3. Airport Construction To improve connectivity and boost regional development, land has been allotted at Choto Langpher near Lumding for the construction of a new airport. This project will enhance transportation links, facilitating easier movement of people and goods, and potentially attracting more investment and tourism to the area. MODERNIZATION EFFORTS Cadastral Survey The government is undertaking a comprehensive cadastral survey, with plans to complete it within five years. This initiative aims to accurately map and document land ownership and boundaries, reducing disputes and enhancing land management efficiency. Digitization of Land Records In tandem with the cadastral survey, efforts are underway to digitize land records. This modernization step will streamline land transactions, improve transparency, and make it easier for landowners to access and verify their records. TACKLING ILLEGAL ENCROACHMENTS Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Executive Member (CEM) Dr. Tuliram Ronghang, the Land Revenue Department has proactively identified areas within the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council that were illegally occupied. A rigorous eviction drive led to the removal of illegal structures, with: 1,655 houses evicted in Langkija 215 houses in Lahorijan 214 houses in Dudu colony This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to lawful land use and reclamation of public land for legitimate developmental purposes.
